Avocado Toast and Things – Taste 'N' Dash

Have your tried this before… avocado and toast?!?!  Back in September Good Morning America referred to this as “The Hottest Breakfast Food Since Regular Toast”.

Is this what the cool kids are eating these days?  What happened to the toast and peanut butter days??  My usual along with oatmeal or a smoothie.

I am definitely not one to keep up with trends hence my fashion choices but I was slightly intrigued to try this one out.  I do love me some avocado!!

This is far from a recipe post since it does not require much effort to put this together.

All you do is mash a half of an avocado in a bowl. Add a little salt and pepper and spread on toasted whole wheat bread.  Of course any bread will do, I just happen to have whole wheat on hand.  I also sprinkled a dash of sesame seeds.

Other topping variations include red pepper flakes or a squeeze of lemon juice.

And to kick it up a notch pop a little “Tapatio”.

This little combo kept me full well past the mid morning.  I am also loving the health benefits on this little number.

Avocados are super healthy and packed with the “good” fats, high in potassium and fiber plus loaded with nutrients and antioxidants.

So after a few months of uncertainty I’m glad I caved in and gave it a shot. I now get all the hype! 😉  In fact I have had this for breakfast and an afternoon snack over the past several days. It’s that good.

If you read prior posts you will see that I started a 30 day challenge earlier in the month to get daily exercise, eat three meals a day (I tend to skip lunch when I am super busy in the day) and as of last week incorporate more seeds into my diet for the health benefits they offer.  Sesame seeds paired well with the avocado and toast and moving forward I will switch it up with the variation of seeds.

And in case you are wondering how the 30 day challenge is coming along…well the first week started off strong in the exercise department but last week not so much.  With the rain and all I was a bit lazy.  On the food front I did much better on week two.  I didn’t skip any meals and was pretty healthy on my selection.

And now I begin the third week… wish me luck!
