Ultimate Homemade “Lara” Energy Bar – Taste 'N' Dash
Hi. This is one of the recipe posts that was lost in my backup so bare with me as I submit several duplicate recipes that you have previously viewed.
This ultimate homemade “Lara” bar is pretty darn good and very similar to the store bought ones. Have you had before? Apple Pie and Cherry Pie are by far my favorite out of the several flavors.
These homemade bars are a great snack to tie you over until your next meal. The combination of dates and almonds along with the other added ingredients are a good one. Dates are a great source of natural sugar and when paired with almonds they work in conjunction by not spiking the blood sugar level only regulating the blood sugar level. It is a win win in my book.
The original “Apple Pie” lara bar recipe calls for dates, almonds, dried apples, walnuts, raisins and cinnamon. I altered the recipe a bit by only adding dates, almonds, dried apples, cinnamon and adding dried cranberries instead. That’s it. Only five ingredients. Sounds doable…right?? Let me show you.
Grab your ingredients.
16 oz dates, pitted
1 cup dried apples
1 cup raw almonds
1/3 cup dried cranberries
1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
Add all the ingredients into a food processor and blend for several minutes.
You want a ball like form.
Take the date almond mixture and press onto parchment paper to create a square and about 1/4 inch thick.
I placed another piece of parchment paper over and rolled it out with a rolling pin. So much easier. Trust me.
Place in the fridge for about two hours to set.
Remove from fridge and cut into bars.
Recipe makes 10 bars.
Cut and wrap each one individually with parchment paper.
I stored in the fridge until I was ready to eat one.
Pop one into your bag first thing in the morning and by midday the energy bar will have had time to reach room temp. Don’t get me wrong…these bars are just as good cold too.

Enjoy!
